Sharing our senior living recipe for enjoyable dining

By: Country Meadows | Dining

Even though seniors’ nutritional needs and appetites may change as they get older, what doesn’t change is their desire for great-tasting food. Recognizing this, the best retirement communities prepare and serve meals that surpass expectations of taste, while prioritizing residents’ dietary needs as well.

In the culinary spirit, then, here is the perfect recipe for a pleasurable meal experience during senior living dining: combine heaping amounts of delicious food and good nutrition, add plentiful menu choices and top off with dining options.

Unlike a nursing home menu, at Country Meadows, we strive to ensure that our residents enjoy mealtime and feel at home. We believe their senior living dining experience should be a comfortable time of fellowship with friends and neighbors, whether residing in our independent living communities and personal care or assisted living homes, or receiving memory support or restorative care services.

Healthy foods that taste great

Senior health is dependent on a balanced diet, and at Country Meadows, we fulfill that need with professionally prepared, nutritious foods. Our chefs’ feature recipes contain fresh ingredients, locally grown produce and regional flavors every day.

A salad bar with fresh vegetables and fruits is a standard at every meal, as are bread and rolls baked daily by our own bakers and an array of inviting desserts. Fresh fruit, cookies, juices, coffee and tea are always available, not just at mealtime but throughout the day and evening.

Menu choices and dining flexibility

Country Meadows retirees can select items based on their daily dietary needs and personal preferences. They have their choice of featured entrees at each meal, with dinner including supplemental entrees of seafood, chicken and a vegetarian alternative.

Our Elegant Entrees gourmet menu allows residents to indulge in a culinary delight—lobster tail, filet mignon, lamb chops or scallops—any night of the week. In addition, we encourage residents to request favorite foods and suggest new items for our menu.

Each Country Meadows community conveniently offers either a Bistro café or an At Your Service program. Our Bistro dining team prepares soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, grilled specialties, sides, and day-long breakfast entrees. The Bistro is a popular choice for inviting family for lunch or sitting with friends to talk over a delicious meal.

When residents have plans or appointments that conflict with regular breakfast or lunch hours, they may take advantage of “At Your Service.”  This gives them flexibility to eat earlier or later than usual. They simply place an order for the meal and pick it up at a time that suits them best.

Seniors at Country Meadows who wish to invite family or friends to join them for a meal are welcome to reserve our private dining room or, weather permitting, our private picnic pavilion.

To get a true taste of dining at Country Meadows, join us for a meal at any of our 11 campuses. Please contact us to schedule a time for you and several family members or friends to come for a meal. We would be glad to answer any questions on our meal options and special dietary needs.

If you’re thinking of choosing a retirement community, we hope you will take a look at any of our senior living communities in Pennsylvania or Maryland, where you will find older adults engaged in a wide variety of retirement community activities in a family-oriented, caring environment. Please contact us for information or to schedule a tour so that we can familiarize you with our broad range of services.
