Seniors ExcerisingChallenges are a great motivating factor to drive senior fitness. At Country Meadows in Wyomissing, PA, Vi Schultz, director of fitness, challenged her residents to log the most miles biked. “I rode my bike to work most days as they rode the stationary bikes. We made a deal; if they log more miles, collectively, than I, I would throw a party to celebrate. I’m proud to say residents won that party as they logged more than 220 miles in just one month!” she says, adding, “Their support, encouragement and commitment were a great reason to celebrate. I rode for them, and they rode for me. Now that’s teamwork!”

Senior Flash Mob DancingEveryone got into the spirit on International Dance Day. Country Meadows’ co-workers surprised residents with flash mobs throughout the campus to pump them up for the evening’s special dance to encourage senior fitness.

Senior Couple FitnessNot many people connect senior fitness with Valentine’s Day. But Country Meadows celebrates couples by sharing some sweet advice on what keeps their relationships going strong for more than 60 or even 70 years! Team work makes the dream work.

The National Institute on Aging shares these tips on safe ways older adults can get started on their journey to senior fitness.

Schultz enjoys encouraging senior fitness, and says, “I am so fortunate to get to do what I love thanks to the support, encouragement and opportunities from Country Meadows. I really want families and current/future co-workers to know that ‘Life is good at Country Meadows!'”

I am presently a gym member at Penn State Health Exeter using Silver Sneakers. I would like a location closer to my house. Does your Silver Sneaker program include the use of cardio equipment like a treadmill, NuStep, Recumbent Bike, etc.?
    Thank you,
    Calvin Zimmerman
