The human spirit longs for purpose. No matter age or ability, the deep desire for meaning is a determining factor in one’s quality of life. Purpose is different for each resident, which is why we work with a resident’s family to learn what activities, hobbies and passions spark joy and what skills they have through their Life Story. These purpose-driven activities give the resident a reason to engage even when things are hard and add structure to the day. In our Connections Memory Support Services Neighborhood, adding purposeful activities to a resident’s schedule boosts mental health, builds confidence and eliminates feelings of depression when they are contributing to the needs of the neighborhood.
