New Forks location obtains Assisted Living license, new residents being accepted

By: Country Meadows |

Country Meadows of Forks in Easton is pleased to start accepting Assisted Living residents. As one of just two licensed Assisted Living providers in Northampton County, Country Meadows offers services in both traditional Assisted Living as well as non-secured and secured Memory Support. These services enable residents to receive certain medical care on-site rather than transitioning, temporarily or permanently, to a rehabilitation, skilled nursing or other healthcare facility.

“The Assisted Living license provides additional peace of mind for those looking for a highly social and active community,” says Patti Ann Rohrbach, executive director. “We know our residents prefer the comfort of home, especially when they’re ill. They don’t want to be concerned that they may need to move away from their social connections and support because of a fall or illness. Assisted Living provides more flexibility and gives our residents a greater voice in decisions about their healthcare and where they receive it.”

Assisted living is similar to the residential options available in nearby New Jersey. Rohrbach says it differs slightly from the Personal Care designation in Pennsylvania because of greater clinical oversight, staffing levels, training and requirements.

A full-time registered nurse is on staff to coordinate and oversee the program, and Rohrbach has already contracted with several area healthcare providers who are standing by to meet residents’ needs. Additional training for staff, including dementia skills and a higher ratio of CPR-trained co-workers, also is complete.

“Giving residents the ability to maintain maximum independence and exercise decision-making and personal choice is part of our culture at Country Meadows,” says Rohrbach. “The Assisted Living designation works toward this in tandem with our collaborative efforts with Genesis Rehabilitation Services to provide onsite physical therapy and in-house programs like Restorative Care to help residents practice and improve the skills they need to maintain independence.”

The Assisted Living license applies to both the first floor living area as well as the secure neighborhood for Memjory Support at the Forks campus. To arrange a tour or for more information email Forks@CountryMeadows.com or call 484-544-3880.
