Country Meadows Retirement Communities announces sale of South Hills of Pittsburgh campus to local Concordia Lutheran Ministries

By: Country Meadows |

Concordia Lutheran MinistriesOn Monday, March 11, 2024, Country Meadows Retirement Communities announced the sale of the South Hills of Pittsburgh campus to Concordia Lutheran Ministries. The campus has been owned and operated by Country Meadows for more than 30 years, and it was their sole community in Western Pennsylvania.

“It is with very mixed emotions that we have made the decision to sell our South Hills campus,” said Meredith Mills, President and CEO. “However, we are confident Concordia is the right partner to continue the mission begun by our family and will provide a stable future for our co-workers and residents alike.”

Concordia is one of the largest not-for-profit senior living providers nationally. They are headquartered in and support 12 communities in Western Pennsylvania. The company began in 1881 offering a safe haven for orphaned children and a handful of seniors. They began serving more seniors in 1908, with the opening of their first senior living community in 1908 in Cabot, Pa.

“What appealed to us about Concordia is they are a not-for-profit company with a similar mission and values focused on staff and residents, plus their strong leadership and solid reputation in our industry,” Mills added. “Ensuring quality care for our residents and maintaining our dedicated team, some of whom have been with us for over 25 years, was our top priority.”

Both companies are committed to making the transition as smooth as possible with no interruption of care or service to residents. Concordia plans to offer employment to nearly all of Country Meadows’ South Hills co-workers to work on this campus or at one of their 12 local communities.
Country Meadows will continue to own and operate nine locations in Pennsylvania and Maryland and manage the not-for-profit Ecumenical Retirement Community in Harrisburg.
