The Fitness and Aquatics Center at Country Meadows Retirement Communities in south York will close on November 30th. This decision impacts only the Fitness and Aquatics Center—the Country Meadows of Leader Heights campus will continue to operate normally.
Fitness classes will continue at the center until the end of this month; however, the warm-water pool has closed due to maintenance issues.
“Maintaining a consistent 93-degree water temperature has taken a major toll our on building, heating and cooling systems as well as the pool itself,” says Diana Ponterio, senior vice president of Operations-Country Meadows. “We made the hard, yet fiscally responsible decision to use the investment required to upgrade and maintain the pool and building for resident services.”
Fitness centers located within the campus’ three main buildings will continue to offer residents one-on-one weight training sessions to increase fitness, cardio equipment to strengthen the cardiovascular system and group fitness classes which offer opportunities for fun exercise and socialization.
“We are grateful for the support provided by the community over the years and the friends we’ve made,” adds Ponterio.
