Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work EVERY Day

By: Country Meadows |

In honor of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, meet a few mother & daughter and mother & son pairs at our Frederick campus:

Silvia has been working at Country Meadows of Frederick for the past four years, and when her high-school daughter, Karla, starting looking for work after school, she encouraged her to apply at Country Meadows. “I think it’s a good place for her to work—I love it. I love my job and the residents here, and I never want to leave.” And for Karla, she gushes, “My mom is an angel. I love getting to see her while I’m working.” Any time they have worked on weekends, they have been lucky enough to work the same shift so they get to see each other even more. We celebrate Silvia and Karla and their dedication to making our residents’ lives better.

For Melanie, Country Meadows is a family affair. Her husband and oldest daughter worked at Country Meadows of Frederick in the past, and now her son, Tobin, is working in Dining Services. Melanie said, “He grew up here. He was six when I started working at Country Meadows. He has always been around seniors.” And when asked why he chose to work after school at Country Meadows, Tobin remarked, “I knew it was a great place to work because my mom always talks about it, and when she comes home, she is happy because she made a resident smile.” Thank you to both Melanie and Tobin! We applaud you both and appreciate your family bond you share with our residents and team every day.

Sonia, an LPN for Country Meadows, encouraged her daughter, Leah, to apply to an opening in Community Life a year and half ago, and they have been working together ever since! When asked why Leah wanted to join the team at the Frederick campus, she  shared, “It’s very family orientated, and since my mom has been an LPN for seniors my whole life, I’ve grown up in this type of environment and knew I wanted to work with seniors. I also would visit her before I started working here, and I knew I would like it.” Sonia also loves getting to see her daughter at work. “Our shifts stagger a bit, but we do try and eat lunch together. We also do our trainings together. Leah is always making sure that I have those done!” They both feel thankful that they get to work the same weekends and know that might not be the case at another company. We love that you get to bring your family to work!

In honor of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, Kelli brought her son, Luke, to a special event Balloons and Bubbles at the Frederick campus. When asked why it’s important to bring him to an event like this, she shared, “I enjoy the interaction he gets with the residents. The residents also love it when he comes; after a visit, they will continue to talk about it for the next few days! We even have a resident that doesn’t come out of his room very often, but when Luke is here, he always comes out to visit with him.” Thank you, Kelli, for sharing Luke with us on Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. It was a special day for everyone!
