Dear Friend:

It is with a great deal of sadness that we share with you the passing of our father, Governor George M. Leader. He died May 9 at his home in Hershey. He was 95 years old. Along with our mother, Dad founded Country Meadows Retirement Communities, Providence Place Retirement Communities and Ecumenical Retirement Community.

Many of you have offered your condolences and on behalf our entire family, we are tremendously grateful. Anyone wishing to send cards and letters of sympathy to our family may send them to our attention at the Country Meadows Home Office, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, PA 17033.

Our father was recognized by many for his contributions to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, senior citizens, the children of Harrisburg and the co-workers with whom he worked side-by-side.

Many friends and co-workers have contacted us to request information about memorial contributions. Anyone who wishes to make a memorial contribution may do so through any of the following associations our father was proud to support:

• Ecumenical Retirement Community, 830 Cherry Drive, Hershey, PA 17033 (the not-for-profit assisted living community that he founded in Harrisburg, Pa.);
• CRAM (Christian Recovery Aftercare Ministry) 509 Division Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110 (a program that assists ex-offenders to prepare for employment.);
• His church, Derry Presbyterian Church (Mission and Peace Fund), 248 East Derry Road, Hershey, PA 17033.

Our father left us all with a respected legacy to serve others with dignity and reverence. We hope to carry on this vision and ask all of you to join us in helping others, whether in our own backyards or in another country, to help people realize their dreams and abilities in our father’s memory.
