We’ve developed a few simple questions to ask your doctor about the need for senior care for a loved one, based on advice from clinicians who work with older adults every day. We’re here to help.
1. “Is my loved one at significant risk if he, she, or they continue to live at home?”
A doctor can help you determine if your loved is at risk of falling, missing medications, or even wandering and getting lost.
2. “How do I make sure my loved gets the best care?”
A doctor can help you understand the type of care that would be best and suggest ways to find it or provide it yourself. Our Resource Center contains many helpful tips for caregivers.
3. “How can I provide the opportunity for the best quality of life for my loved one?”
In addition to recommending medical care, a doctor may be able to suggest actions for making a loved one as comfortable and independent as possible. For some, caregiving at home is the solution. For other families, a retirement community may assure the both the best quality of life and the best care.
