Country Meadows of York-South is not a typical retirement community. Take our food for instance. It's a highlight in our residents' day. They enjoy catching up with neighbors over a delicious home-prepared meal with restaurant-style dining or treating guests in our neighborhood-style Bistro—all on the same campus. While our delectable dining experience fills the appetite, our extensive community life program fuels the mind, body and spirit. Here, our residents live beyond their apartments and become as involved as they choose within our campus in south York, Pennsylvania, the city, region, even road trips to outside Pennsylvania.
When choosing a retirement community, families typically set out seeking a safer, easier way of life—what most retirement homes provide. However according to our residents and families, what sets us apart is our broad range of recreational activities, social events, fitness classes, lifelong learning and spiritual enrichment programs.
For each level of care, there's always something to do. And it's not just for residents. Friends and families are invited to join us for a meal, an activity or an event of their choice. Click here for our calendar of events and activities.
Physical activity helps seniors live a better quality of life. Our dedicated fitness staff promotes healthy lifestyles with individual and group programs from SilverSneakers® aquatic fitness classes in our Arthritis Foundation-approved warm-water therapy pool and Zumba Gold® to one-on-one training, rehabilitation on the HydroWorx® X80 underwater treadmill and interactive bowling, tennis, golf and other computer games.
Our Community Aquatics and Fitness Center is open to the public and a SilverSneakers® Certified Fitness Center—one of only a few in the York area. For more details, click here.
Every day our residents are continuing to learn and expand their horizons with activities such as gardening, perusing the city's history in the on-campus Leader Library, cooking demonstrations, art classes, to current event discussions and outings to the Strand Theater and York's Central Market.
We embrace an inclusive interfaith approach to spiritual care and welcome all religious and cultural backgrounds. Our full-time chaplains offer pastoral counseling, conduct religious services and are available for residents' spiritual needs at their convenience. Along with on-campus interfaith religious services, we provide opportunities for residents to attend worship services in the local community.
Each resident adds value and has much to contribute regardless of abilities or age. Residents give their talents, experience and time to volunteer, participate in on-campus activities like preparing meals for Meals on Wheels recipients and find many ways to share their lifetime of knowledge with others and help make life better for everyone.
Our residents delight in seeing old friends' familiar faces and welcome the chance to make new ones. They meet neighbors who love the same activities, have the same taste in music or books, enjoy the same pastimes and for many York natives, share the same stories.
And they'd also love to meet you. To experience life at our retirement community here in south York, Pennsylvania, set up a personalized tour for any day of the week at your convenience. We look forward to welcoming you.
