Helping residents find happiness a top goal for new executive director

By: Country Meadows |

Amanda Bobb-Hanson has been promoted to executive director of Country Meadows of West Shore in Mechanicsburg.

Amanda Hanson

Hanson, who has a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, began working at Country Meadows in 2009. Her grandmother is a longtime resident of Country Meadows of Hershey, so Hanson already was a fan of the organization. After working at the retirement community just a short time, she fell in love with the residents at the West Shore campus as well as Country Meadows’ mission.

“The residents are what inspire me and keep me going, and Country Meadows is a place that encourages us and gives us the resources to do what we can for them to see them happy,” she says.

During the past eight years, Hanson has led each of the specialty areas on the campus beginning as resident services manager for the Personal Care program, associate director of the Pathways restorative care program and executive director of the Connections program for residents requiring memory support.

“Each new role has opened me up to a new group of residents and taught me a lot as well as challenged me to find ways to make life better for them,” she says.

As executive director, Hanson plans to continue developing the campus and providing high quality service and care for the residents. Noting that the needs of residents are changing, she is focused on providing programs that give residents the greatest benefit.

“One area I will focus on is rebuilding our Pathways program which is central to finding solutions that enable our residents to stay here and age in place comfortably,” says Hanson.

A self-described “servant leader,” Amanda also will focus on co-worker retention and developing a strong management team that works well together.

“Over the years I’ve built great relationships with a lot of co-workers, and I’m really looking forward to supporting them and making this a work environment that they can thrive and grow in,” she says. “I know I have had many great mentors in my career and it is rewarding to be in a position to help others.”

Hanson resides in Lake Meade with her husband.
