Country Meadows has licensed the nation’s leading Parkinson’s disease fitness program, OhioHealth Delay the Disease at the Hershey campus. Led by our certified OhioHealth Delay the Disease fitness team, the program improves the physical, mental and emotional realities of individuals living with Parkinson’s disease or similar symptoms by helping to delay the progression of symptoms. Delay the Disease is an evidenced-based fitness program developed by OhioHealth’s David Zid, BA, ACE, APG, and Jackie Russell, RN BSN CNOR in Columbus, Ohio. This national wellness program is designed to retrain the mind and body and targets daily functional challenges and symptom-specific fitness agendas. Exercise plans are adapted to all levels of the disease, valuable to newly diagnosed and progressed states alike.
The program delivers symptom-specific exercises that optimize function and restore independence. Nationally, participants have experienced improvement in mobility, posture, balance, handwriting, speech volume and a reduction in daily functional challenges. The classes are a source of fun, social camaraderie and hope.
