Experience a taste of what life is like for our residents at our Mechanicsburg retirement community on the West Shore. Every day brings an abundance of opportunities from going on an outing to staying in to work on a craft, learning a new hobby or dancing the evening away. Our Community Life team plans a full schedule of activities for every resident, in every level of care.

Picture life with our residents and co-workers at Country Meadows of Mechanicsburg.

“One could not ask for anything more than what we have here at Country Meadows.”

Lemonade on the Lawn

What’s the perfect remedy for a hot day? Lemonade of course! Residents enjoyed cool drinks, picnic food and popcorn.

Flower Arranging

A local floral artist brought flowers from her farm and taught residents how to arrange them. They loved the variety, colors and scents. Many knew the names and talked about the gardens they keep!

National Senior Health & Fitness Day

Residents took their celebration on the road to a local park where they participated in several challenges. The “hoop-a-human” relay race used hula hoops for a fun exercise to target balance, gait speed and coordination. Target practice supports stance through weight shifting and arm swing, and the ladder drill targets multi-tasking for brain plasticity and coordination to reduce fall risk.

Celebrating 104th Birthday

Mechanicsburg campus resident Jerry celebrated her 104th birthday with residents and co-workers. Doesn’t she look marvelous?

Governor George Leader's 100th Birthday Celebration

On Jan. 17, 2018, Country Meadows founder, Gov. George Leader, would have celebrated his 100th birthday. In his honor, residents wrote messages of appreciation in a large birthday card, ate cake and enjoyed a superb birthday dinner. Yum!

Day of Pampering

Residents enjoyed a “spa day of pampering” to relax and unwind.

Intergenerational

Residents love when children from local schools, scouting troops and community organizations pay them a visit.

Petting Zoo

Alpacas, lambs, ducks and other animals paid West Shore residents a visit for an indoor petting zoo.

Wii Bowling

It was a fun day “at the lanes” as resident bowling teams battled it out for the Country Meadows of West Shore Wii Bowling title trophy.
