A Successful Career Path

Nadean Freeland’s story is one of growth and fulfillment … and gratitude. Nadean began her career with Country Meadows 10 years ago as a Personal Care Associate at the York-South (Leader Heights) campus. She immediately connected with residents. She describes, “When I first started, there were quite a few residents that I really enjoyed being with. As a Personal Care Associate (PCA), you see their struggle. I wanted to help them more on the medical side—to be able to advocate for them health-wise and make their lives easier.”

She aspired to be able to help more, and one of her proudest accomplishments is her career path: PCA to Medication Associate to an LPN. “When I graduated nursing school, I received an award for Gerontology. I was asked to give a speech at graduation,” she remarked, “and the only thing I could think of was my experiences at Country Meadows. They wanted us to use clinical experiences in school, but I kept wanting to talk about Country Meadows.”

It’s the atmosphere, people and residents that really appeal to Nadean. “Country Meadows has always felt like home to me.” And she really thrives in the family-oriented, team environment. She shares, “People have each other’s back here. I love the organized team work. You don’t feel stressed when leaving here at the end of the day knowing you did a good job.”
