Safety & Wellness at Country Meadows

Many seniors want to stay in their current residence as they age and while that may be comfortable, it may not be the safest option. At Country Meadows, our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our residents. When you visit one of our communities, you’ll notice obvious safety and wellness programs throughout the residences and campuses, but there are steps being taken behind the scenes that offer additional peace of mind to our residents and their loved ones.

  • To minimize the risk of falls, you’ll see things like flat thresholds, ramps, hallway handrails, wider halls, low- or no-entry walk-in showers, grab bars in bathrooms and good lighting. These features allow those with mobility or vision issues to move around more safely which lets them maintain independence for longer.
  • Emergency call systems can be found in residences, as well as public restrooms, making it easy to call for assistance.
  • To help protect memory care residents, those neighborhoods have secure doors and private outdoor areas.
  • Residents of assisted living and memory care can get professional help dressing, bathing and transferring, which helps prevent falls and injuries.
  • We provide flu clinics on every campus for residents to conveniently get the flu shot.

Wellness at Country Meadows

One of the main reasons our residents and their families first considered a retirement community was for an easier, safer environment—what all basic senior citizen housing and assisted living facilities provide. But, one of the main reasons they chose Country Meadows was to get back to living life through our full array of social events, fitness, spiritual enrichment programs, recreational activities and lifelong learning.

Our Infection Control Program

With guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pennsylvania and Maryland Departments of Health, Country Meadows follows strong infection control protocols to provide a safe environment for our residents, co-workers, vendors and visitors. Led by a team of clinical experts including former hospital Chief Nursing Officers and those trained in infection control measures by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), our team provides guidance on clinical matters including contagious illness prevention measures and treatment protocols.

Country Meadows’ environmental services team members use cleaning and disinfection products effective against most contagious illnesses, including COVID-19 and influenza. The team also uses disinfection equipment including UV lighting, large air scrubbers and electrostatic guns as well as conducting daily sanitizing efforts throughout every campus. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Country Meadows invested in specialized filters in our HVAC systems to prevent the spread of germs.

At Country Meadows, we recognize what our residents, families and co-workers value and expect from us is peace of mind and a safe environment. We are committed to anticipating and adapting to this goal, every day.
